A Turkish Airlines Airbus A321neo operating flight TK1973 from Istanbul to Dublin experienced a tailstrike during landing at Dublin Airport. Following the incident, the aircraft completed a second landing attempt and touched down safely.
The TK1973 flight, which departed from Istanbul Airport and was scheduled to land in Dublin at 12:35 local time, encountered a technical issue at 12:03 this morning while approaching runway 28L at Dublin Airport. During the landing, the aircraft—an Airbus A321neo registered TC-LTG—made contact with the runway with its tail.

Pilots Successfully Land on Second Attempt
Immediately after the tailstrike, the pilots performed a go-around manoeuvre in accordance with standard procedures. After circling the airport, the aircraft made a second approach 16 minutes later and landed without further issues.
It was reported that there were no injuries or additional technical problems during the aircraft’s final landing.

Weather Conditions Were Normal
At the time of the incident, weather conditions were highly favourable for flying. Visibility exceeded 10 kilometres, and wind was measured at 030 degrees at 9 knots, creating only a light crosswind. Initial assessments suggest that weather was not a contributing factor in the tailstrike.
Investigation Launched
Turkish Airlines announced that a technical investigation has been initiated. A comprehensive maintenance and fuselage inspection is planned in Dublin to assess potential damage to the aircraft’s tail section. Aviation safety authorities are also expected to be involved in the investigation.
