Flight Safety Procedures Activated
Turkish Airlines Press Counsellor Yahya Üstün announced via his social media account that an unusual situation in terms of security was detected during the approach phase of flight TK1853 operating from Istanbul to Barcelona.
According to Üstün’s statement, it was determined that a passenger on board had created an in-flight internet access point (hotspot) and configured the network name to contain a bomb threat. Following this, it was stated that all necessary procedures within the scope of flight safety were immediately initiated.

Aircraft Landed Safely
Following the incident, the aircraft landed safely at Barcelona Airport. It was reported that post-landing security checks were carried out by the competent authorities of the relevant country.
Turkish Airlines officials emphasised that the process was handled within the framework of international aviation security regulations and that all steps were carried out in accordance with established procedures.

Aviation Security Rules Reiterated
It was once again reminded that any behaviour that could threaten flight safety, even as a joke, is subject to serious sanctions under international aviation legislation.
