A runway accident occurred at Paris Orly Airport in the early morning hours when a truck responsible for runway cleaning collided with an easyJet Airbus A320 passenger aircraft. As a result of the incident, the aircraft sustained damage, prompting the airline to cancel six flights for safety reasons.
The investigation into the accident suggests that the truck driver may have accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. The 15-year-old, twin-engine aircraft with a capacity of 146 passengers became inoperable after colliding with the rear of a yellow Scania truck while parked on the runway.
Emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the scene, and easyJet officials announced that the aircraft would undergo thorough safety inspections and repairs. The financial damage from the accident is estimated to exceed £100,000.
Images circulating on social media show the truck’s windshield shattered and damage to the lower part of the aircraft. Authorities stated that the aircraft would undergo a detailed inspection in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.
