Air Arabia has announced the delivery of its first Airbus A320neo aircraft from the 120-aircraft Airbus A320 Family order placed in 2019. The next-generation A320neo joins the airline’s existing Airbus A320 fleet of 83 aircraft, marking the first delivery of the large 120-aircraft order.
The order includes 73 A320neos, 27 A321neos, and 20 A321XLRs. This step reinforces Air Arabia’s long-term growth strategy, aiming to expand its network, enhance environmentally friendly operations, and strengthen its presence in key markets.
The delivery was celebrated with a special ceremony at Sharjah International Airport. Attending the ceremony were Air Arabia Chairman Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Thani, Director General of the Civil Aviation Department Sheikh Khalid Bin Issam Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority Ali Salim Al Midfa, Air Arabia Group CEO Adel El Ali, and senior executives.
Air Arabia Chairman Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Thani said, “The delivery of the first aircraft from our Airbus order is a major milestone in our growth and fleet development strategy. As we strengthen our fleet, we continue to uphold our commitment to operational efficiency, innovation, and sustainability.”
The new Airbus A320neo will operate its first commercial flight on 1 October 2025, on the Sharjah-Bangkok route.
This delivery is part of the airline’s second major direct order from Airbus, following its fleet expansion in 2007 with 49 A320 aircraft. The new aircraft will strengthen Air Arabia’s operations based in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Morocco, Egypt, and Pakistan (Fly Jinnah). Additionally, they will complement the airline’s existing leased fleet, contributing to efficient operations across its expanding route network.
Additional deliveries are expected by the end of the year.
