Ahmet Bolat announced: Turkish Airlines sets a target of 144 billion dollars for the Turkish economy

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board Ahmet Bolat announced that, with rapid fleet growth, investments in AJet, and the opening of new routes, they aim to contribute USD 144 billion to the Turkish economy by 2033.

Fleet size approaching one thousand aircraft

Ahmet Bolat stated that the current fleet of 516 aircraft, including AJet, will be increased to 813 aircraft through ongoing and planned orders, and that with the addition of the SunExpress fleet, the total number of aircraft will approach one thousand.

Emphasising that Turkish Airlines continues to increase its share in the global market, Bolat noted that 500 new aircraft will be added to the fleet under an order schedule extending to 2036. In line with new agreements signed with Boeing, seven new routes will be launched, with a particular focus on increasing operational depth in the Asian and American markets.

Strong expansion in the Asia and China markets

Continuing its growth strategy in the Asian market, Turkish Airlines will implement new joint programmes through a comprehensive cooperation agreement signed with Thai Airways. Turkish Airlines, which currently operates 21 routes in mainland China, aims to maximise its frequency capacity as five major Chinese airlines increase their flights to Istanbul.

AJet to grow with Ankara-centred health tourism

Health tourism holds an important place in AJet’s growth strategy. Within the scope of special health tourism packages prepared with Ankara and Istanbul as hubs, three-day programmes will be offered through agreements with dental hospitals. With this initiative, it is aimed to create a tourism potential of USD 1 billion for Ankara.

AJet, which will open 16 new routes via Sabiha Gökçen Airport, will reach an operational capacity of 100 aircraft by the end of the year, 70 of which will be new-generation aircraft. Positioning Ankara as a critical aviation hub and supporting the development of the regional economy are among the priority objectives.
