A light aircraft carrying five people, including a child, has gone missing in Bolivia’s Amazon region. On 1st May, President Luis Arce announced that a large-scale search and rescue operation had been launched for the missing plane.
In a post on social media, President Arce stated: “An emergency operation has been launched following the disappearance of a Cessna 172CP aircraft carrying five people, including a child. The operation involves the Bolivian Air Force (FAB), the Joint Emergency Response Command, and Search and Rescue Services.”
The missing aircraft disappeared from radar systems in the Beni department, located in the northeast of the country and at the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
Similar Crash in the US: 3 Dead
Meanwhile, on 26th April, a similar plane crash occurred in White County, Tennessee, USA, resulting in the deaths of three people. According to NewsChannel 5, the aircraft was a single-engine Mooney M20TN model manufactured by the Mooney Airplane Company.
Authorities have stated that investigations into both incidents are ongoing and that all available resources are being mobilised to locate the missing individuals.
