Bomb Report on IndiGo Plane. Passengers Evacuated with Emergency Slides

On Tuesday, an IndiGo Airbus A320 flight scheduled to fly from Delhi to Varanasi was evacuated due to a bomb threat. The low-cost airline reported that a threatening note was found in the aircraft’s lavatory before takeoff.

According to the aviation blog One Mile At A Time, the note read “Bomb@5.30”. Following this discovery, the aircraft was moved to a remote area of the airport, and passengers were evacuated using emergency slides. After a thorough search, the threat was determined to be a hoax.

Despite the scare, passengers were re-boarded onto the same aircraft over six hours later. IndiGo issued a statement saying, “Flight 6E2211 from Delhi to Varanasi received a bomb threat at 5:35 AM at Delhi airport. All necessary protocols were followed, and the aircraft was moved to a remote bay as per airport security agencies’ directives.”

The statement continued, “All passengers were safely evacuated through emergency exits. The flight is currently undergoing security checks. The aircraft will be reinstated to the terminal area once all security clearances are completed.”

Videos circulating on social media show passengers being evacuated via the emergency slides. Notably, one flight attendant was seen evacuating with a full-sized carry-on bag, while a pilot was carrying a smaller bag. In emergencies, passengers are generally instructed to leave their belongings on the plane.
