Two leading brands of the Turkish defence industry, Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE) and BAYKAR, are establishing new production bases in Samsun with multi-billion-lira investments. Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı stated that the investments would make a significant contribution to the city’s production, export, and technology capacity, adding:
“We will continue to highly value every investor who believes in the potential of our country and our city.”
Samsun on Its Way to Becoming the “Production Centre of the North”
Commenting on the ongoing efforts in the fields of industry and production, Governor Orhan Tavlı emphasised that Samsun has rapidly risen to the position of the “production centre of the north.”
“While we provide uninterrupted infrastructure and support services to both domestic and foreign investors, the construction processes of the companies allocated land are progressing rapidly. In our new organised industrial zone, special areas have been designated for automotive and defence industry companies,” he said.
Strategic Production to Begin with MKE’s ₺2 Billion Investment
Governor Tavlı stated that the MKE Samsun Production Campus project, with an investment value of ₺2 billion, holds strategic importance for the Turkish Armed Forces:
“The work at this campus, where the strategic products required by the Turkish Armed Forces will be produced with domestic capabilities, is progressing rapidly. This investment by MKE will make a major contribution to Samsun’s emergence as a strong centre in the defence industry.”
BAYKAR’s 400-Decare Production Base
BAYKAR, which produces Türkiye’s first indigenous and national unmanned aerial vehicles, is also making a strategically significant move for the region’s technological vision with its investment in Samsun.
Governor Tavlı said:
“The new production base that BAYKAR will establish in a 400-decare special industrial zone announced in August will give great momentum not only to Samsun’s but also Türkiye’s technological production capacity.”
Employment and Exports to Increase Through High Technology
Governor Tavlı underlined that the work in organised industrial zones continues at full speed, noting that many factories have already started production and some are nearing completion:
“These investments will strengthen the production infrastructure based on high technology while significantly increasing our employment and export figures.”
“We Will Continue to Highly Value Our Investors”
Highlighting that Samsun is steadily advancing towards becoming an investment attraction centre, Governor Tavlı concluded his remarks as follows:
“Every investor who believes in the potential of our country and our city — especially our exporters who deliver Turkish products to every corner of the world — is valuable to us. With unity, determination, and perseverance, we will together build a Samsun that stands out for its production, technology, and human resources.”
