Following a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, several major European airlines have decided to resume flights to Israel, cautiously marking a return to normalcy for international air travel in the region. Carriers such as Lufthansa, Wizz Air, and British Airways have begun re-establishing flight schedules.
Lufthansa Group Flights to Resume on 1 February
The Germany-based Lufthansa Group, which includes Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, and Swiss, plans to restart flights to Tel Aviv on 1 February 2025. This decision comes after services were halted due to escalating regional tensions. Flights to Tehran remain suspended until 14 February, while services to Beirut are on hold until 28 February.
Early Moves by Wizz Air and British Airways
Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air resumed its flights to Tel Aviv on 15 January 2025. The airline operates services to Tel Aviv from European cities including London Luton, Budapest, Vienna, Milan, Warsaw, and Athens. It also restarted flights to Amman, Jordan, on 16 January.
British Airways, meanwhile, is set to begin daily flights to Tel Aviv from 5 April 2025.
Different Plans by Air France, KLM, and easyJet
Air France plans to resume flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Tel Aviv on 24 January 2025. However, KLM has extended its suspension of flights to Israel until 29 March 2025. UK-based easyJet has announced plans to restart flights to Tel Aviv from 1 June 2025.
Ryanair’s Summer Schedule
Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair has announced plans to operate full-time flights to Tel Aviv for the upcoming summer season, citing strong demand for travel to the region.
EASA’s Security Warning and Reassessment
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had previously advised against flights over Israeli and Lebanese airspace due to security concerns. However, following the ceasefire and an improvement in security conditions, these advisories have been reassessed, allowing airlines to cautiously resume their services.
