A Gulfstream-type private jet belonging to Turkish airline Zafer Air collided with a minibus during a taxi manoeuvre at Irkutsk Airport in Russia. The people in the minibus and the passengers on board the aircraft escaped without injury.
The incident occurred while the plane was taxiing to depart for Shanghai. IrkutskMedia reported the news based on information from the press service of the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor’s Office.
Following the collision, the flight was cancelled, and it was reported that the Baikal-Angara Transport Prosecutor’s Office launched a flight safety investigation.
Flight Cancelled, Investigation Launched
Prosecutor’s Office officials stated that the initial inspections carried out in the area where the accident occurred revealed no fuel leakage or fire hazard. After the incident, both the aircraft and the minibus were towed to a safe area, and runway traffic was temporarily suspended under control.
Second Incident at Irkutsk Airport in Recent Days
According to the agency, a few days earlier, an Airbus A321 aircraft operating flight SU-1441, scheduled to fly from Irkutsk Airport to Moscow, had to return to the parking area due to a technical problem while accelerating for take-off.
Authorities stated that there was no direct connection between the two incidents but announced that flight safety inspections would be intensified.
