Turkey’s flag carrier, Turkish Airlines (THY), continues to contribute to both the tourism industry of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the regional economy by increasing its wide-body flights to Ercan Airport.
The new 3,000-metre-long runway at Ercan Airport allows for the landing of large aircraft, while the airport’s growing passenger capacity enhances its international potential.

First Weekend Wide-Body Boeing 777 Flight from Turkish Airlines to Ercan
Turkish Airlines has added a new chapter to its wide-body operations, which began with the Airbus A350 on 1 November 2023. Today at 09:13, a Boeing 777 aircraft operating on the Istanbul–Ercan route was welcomed with a traditional water salute.
Flight TK 960, which departed from Istanbul Airport, offers a total capacity of 349 passengers — 49 in Business Class and 300 in Economy Class. These reciprocal Saturday flights will significantly enhance both comfort and capacity on journeys to Ercan.

Official Welcome Ceremony with High-Level Attendance
Upon landing at Ercan Airport, the Boeing 777 was greeted by Turkish Airlines Cyprus Director Pınar Ayvaz Arıkan, Civil Aviation Director Mustafa Sofi, Civil Aviation Department officials, Airport Communication Branch Chief Naciye İlkman, Airport Operations Branch Chief Hüseyin Atakol, and representatives of T&T Airport Operations.

Strong Support from Turkish Airlines to the TRNC
With Turkish Airlines’ increased flight capacity, Ercan Airport now offers a more comfortable and accessible travel experience not only for TRNC citizens but also for international travellers wishing to visit the region.
