Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz visited air traffic controllers at Ankara Esenboğa Airport and made significant statements regarding issues in the sector. During the visit, which took place upon the invitation of the air traffic controllers, Yılmaz announced that a solution had been found to address demands arising after the “Non-Initiative Work” (NIW) process implemented during the summer season.
Vice President Yılmaz stated that the demands of the air traffic controllers would be resolved soon, noting that the matter would also be discussed at the Cabinet level. He mentioned that in upcoming meetings with the Ministry of Transport, the controllers’ requests and proposed solutions would be brought to the agenda again, and the necessary steps would be taken.
HTK-SEN Pauses NIW Implementation
The Air Traffic Controllers and Other Transportation Workers’ Union (HTK-SEN) had announced a temporary suspension of the Non-Initiative Work (NIW) practice as of August 1, 2024. It is reported that Yılmaz’s visit is seen as a step toward addressing the issues raised during the NIW period.
