Tensions Rise in the Middle East: US May Request Access to Akrotiri Base from the UK

The United States is reportedly preparing for a potential military intervention scenario amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. According to sources, the Biden administration may request permission from the UK to deploy refuelling aircraft to the Akrotiri Base in Cyprus, should it become involved in the conflict.

It has been suggested that President Donald Trump is considering a strike on Iran’s Fordow uranium enrichment facility. However, White House sources stated that no final decision has been made yet. When asked, Trump said, “I may or may not.”

Harsh Warning from Iran: Western Bases and Ships Could Become Targets

Tehran has issued a strong warning, stating that military bases or ships belonging to the US, UK, or France could become “legitimate targets” if they support Israel. Iran’s ambassador in Nicosia confirmed that these concerns have been officially communicated to Cypriot authorities.

UK Activity Increases at Akrotiri Base

The UK continues to bolster its military presence in the region. Reports indicate a noticeable increase in aircraft activity from the Akrotiri Base in Cyprus in recent days. British officials have reaffirmed their support for Israel’s security, while stressing that diplomatic solutions remain their priority in the region.
