A tragic incident occurred aboard a JetBlue Airways passenger plane that landed in Florida, USA. The bodies of two individuals were discovered in the landing gear of an Airbus A320 traveling from New York to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Discovered During Routine Maintenance
Officials stated that Flight 1801 departed John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York at 8:20 PM local time on Monday and landed at the Florida airport around 11:00 PM. The lifeless bodies were found by maintenance crews during routine post-flight checks.
In a statement, JetBlue Airways said, “Unfortunately, two individuals have lost their lives. Investigations are ongoing to identify them and determine how they accessed the aircraft.” The company also affirmed its cooperation with authorities.
Jamaican Connection Under Investigation
An official from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey revealed in a preliminary investigation that the stowaways did not board the aircraft in New York. The plane had spent Sunday night in Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, before flying to New York and then proceeding to Florida. Authorities suspect the stowaways might be Jamaican nationals, but their identities have not yet been officially confirmed.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and local authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident. A spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) clarified that neither the flight crew nor the aircraft’s operation played a role in the tragedy.
