The ANKA-3 unmanned aerial vehicle, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), has hit the international agenda with a comprehensive analysis published in the US-based magazine The National Interest.
As one of the most advanced UAVs of the Turkish Air Force, ANKA-3 has now made headlines in the United States after being widely covered in European, Indian, and Greek media. The analysis published in The National Interest underlined that ANKA-3 has the potential to radically change the military balance in the Middle East and bring Turkey to the forefront of the global defence industry market.
The magazine noted that ANKA-3 would “enable operations against advanced air defence systems without putting pilots at risk.” Highlighting the advantages Turkish UAVs provided in conflicts in Syria, Libya, and the Caucasus, the analysis stated that ANKA-3 would take this success further with its advanced stealth and combat capabilities.
It was emphasised that ANKA-3 offers an attractive option especially for countries seeking alternatives to Western technology. It was also noted that it could play a critical role in disputes over airspace in the Aegean Sea, counter-terrorism operations, and in the transition from land force dominance to air superiority.
The analysis also included concerns expressed in Israeli media that Turkish UAVs could alter regional balances. The National Interest described ANKA-3 as “a harbinger of the shift towards drone-centred warfare,” noting that it is expected to be unveiled in 2026.
