Turkish Industry Day: A Critical Meeting with NATO

Hosted by the Presidency of Defence Industries, Turkish Industry Day strengthened NATO cooperation and offered Turkish companies the opportunity to integrate into the global supply chain.

Hosted by the Presidency of Defence Industries at the Ankara Aerospace and Aviation Specialised Industrial Zone, Turkish Industry Day brought together senior executives from NATO’s two main procurement agencies, NCIA and NSPA, with representatives of the Turkish defence and aerospace industry. The event provided a strategic platform for integrating Turkish companies into the global defence supply chain.

Organised under the coordination of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), Turkish Industry Day aimed to increase the international visibility of the Turkish defence and aerospace sector and to deepen cooperation with NATO. The event was attended by NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) General Manager Ludwig Decamps, NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) senior executive Joseph Lyden, Deputy President of Defence Industries Prof. Dr Hakan Karataş, along with leading institutions and organisations from the sector.

Throughout the day, comprehensive presentations were delivered on NATO agencies’ procurement processes, cooperation methods, e-tendering and e-portal tools. Participating Turkish companies learned about direct business opportunities with the agencies and evaluated concrete cooperation steps through Q&A sessions and bilateral meetings. In particular, the sessions entitled “How to Do Business with NATO?” provided a critical platform for knowledge sharing for Turkish industrial firms.

Speaking at the event, President of Defence Industries Prof. Dr Haluk Görgün stated:

“The Turkish defence and aerospace industry, with its capabilities, is not only a strong actor meeting our country’s needs but also one that contributes to our allies’ projects. Such meetings with NATO increase the international visibility of our sector and pave the way for Turkish companies to play a more active role in the global supply chain. Our high-level dialogues with NATO are advancing our cooperation.”

Turkish Industry Day was regarded as a strategic milestone for strengthening international cooperation in the Turkish defence industry, playing a more active role in NATO projects, and enhancing its export potential.
