Turkish Airlines (THY) has resumed its Istanbul-Beirut flights after a suspension of more than two months due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. The national carrier halted flights to Beirut on September 21 as clashes intensified between Israel and the Lebanon-based Hezbollah militant group.
A ceasefire was reached between the parties last week, though both sides continue to accuse each other of violations. Following these developments, Turkish Airlines decided to reinstate its Beirut flights.
Gradual Increase in Flight Frequency
Initially, THY will operate one daily flight to Beirut. Starting December 8, this will increase to two flights per day, and by December 11, it will expand to four daily services.
Tickets for Istanbul-Beirut flights are now available for purchase on Turkish Airlines’ official website. The airline aims to strengthen both commercial and tourist connections with the reinstated flights.
Ceasefire and Regional Stability
The resumption of Beirut flights marks a critical link in Turkish Airlines’ regional operations, especially following the ceasefire. THY prioritizes strategic routes like these to bolster Istanbul’s position as a global transit hub.
