Turkish Airlines (THY) is resuming its flights to Iran, which were temporarily suspended due to tensions between Israel and Iran. THY CEO Bilal Ekşi announced on social media that flights to Mashhad will resume on Monday, June 30.
Following reciprocal attacks between Israel and Iran, increased risk in the regional airspace prompted Turkish Airlines to temporarily suspend its Iran operations as a safety precaution. After a ceasefire was established and the airspace was reopened to commercial traffic, THY decided to gradually resume its operations in the region.
In his statement, THY CEO Bilal Ekşi said:
“We are restarting our Iran–Mashhad flights on Monday, June 30.”
The resumption of flights is seen as a significant step for both commercial and diplomatic relations in the region. Turkish Airlines is also expected to reassess and potentially restart flights to other Iranian cities depending on future developments.
