Turkish Airlines (THY) has solidified its global success by officially earning the title of “The Airline Flying to the Most Countries” in the Guinness World Records. The national flag carrier celebrated this historic achievement with its inaugural flight to Santiago, the capital of Chile. The Guinness World Record certificate was presented to Turkish Airlines executives during a ceremony at Santiago Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport.
New Horizons with Santiago Flights
The new Santiago flights increase THY’s destinations in the Americas to 26 and the number of countries in the region to 10. This milestone marks a significant expansion of Turkish Airlines’ global network, now spanning 131 countries. The airline will operate four weekly flights from Istanbul to Santiago, with a stopover in São Paulo.
Globally Recognized Achievement
Turkish Airlines has held the title of the airline flying to the most countries since 2012. This achievement has now been formally recognized by Guinness World Records. The record was verified based on THY’s active flights to 120 countries over the past 12 months. Including recently reopened routes and the inaugural flight to Chile, the carrier’s network now reaches an impressive 131 countries.

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board Ahmet Bolat expressed his pride in the inaugural flight to Santiago, stating:
