Turkish Airlines (THY) announced that it would impose certain restrictions on the discounted ticket privileges provided to its staff and employees working in some of its subsidiaries. Users logging into the MyPass system were greeted with a notice titled “Rules and Principles for Restricting Discounted Ticket Rights.”
According to the new regulations, employees who violate THY’s established rules may have their discounted ticket privileges revoked, and this restriction may temporarily extend to their family members.
Rules and Implementation Principles
- Violations affect only the employee who committed the offense, but family members’ rights are also suspended during the restriction period.
- In case of a violation, the employee may be required to pay the full, non-discounted ticket price.
- Decisions regarding violations are final and cannot be appealed.
Restriction-Causing Actions
Certain provisions in the new regulation have drawn attention, particularly the clause on “making statements against the company,” which has caused discomfort among employees. Below are the actions that may lead to the restriction of discounted ticket privileges:
- Unauthorized capture of personal images of passengers or staff.
- Non-compliance with flight safety regulations.
- Engaging in actions that disrupt operations.
- Making statements against the company.
- Causing incidents onboard the aircraft.
- Smuggling or engaging in transportation related to illicit trade.
- Behaving contrary to the conduct policy during flights.
- Damaging passengers or property.
- Causing distress through verbal threats or insults.
- Theft or attempted theft.
- Physically injuring or assaulting passengers or staff.
- Ticket-related fraud.
- Sexual harassment.
- Attempting to enter the cockpit without authorization.
- Attempting to seize control of the aircraft.
- Acts of sabotage targeting the aircraft.
