Turkish Airlines (THY) has shared its passenger and cargo transport statistics for March 2025 with the public. According to the released data, THY carried a total of 6.16 million passengers in the third month of the year, recording a modest increase of 0.3% compared to the same period last year. The Far East market stood out in terms of revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) performance.
Decline in Passenger Load Factor
In March 2025, THY’s overall passenger load factor stood at 77.5%, marking a 2.3-point decrease compared to the same period last year, when it was 79.8%. Load factors on international routes declined across all regions, with the most notable decreases observed in North America (-3.5 points) and Domestic routes (-3.6 points).
Far East and North America Routes Show Growth
In the Far East region, RPK increased by 8.7% and passenger numbers rose by 8.5%, making it the fastest-growing market.
North America also recorded notable growth, with a 1.9% increase in RPK and a 1.6% rise in passenger numbers.
Conversely, the Central & South America market experienced a 5.7% decrease in passenger numbers.
Increase in Total Seat Capacity and Aircraft Count
Available seat kilometres (ASK) rose by 4.5% year-on-year in March 2025, reaching 20.9 billion km.
The number of aircraft increased from 453 to 472, representing a 4.2% expansion in the fleet.
Total seat capacity grew by 4.9% to reach 97,697.
The number of flight destinations rose from 348 to 353, supporting the expansion of the airline’s global network.
Cargo Volume on the Rise
In March, THY carried 176,695 tonnes of cargo and mail, marking a 1.5% increase compared to the previous year. Cargo performance showed particularly strong growth on North American (10.5%) and Far Eastern (6.1%) routes. However, a sharp decline of 20.7% was observed in the African market.

These developments indicate that the company continues to utilise its capacity effectively, although the decline in load factors reflects the impact of market dynamics and global competition.
