Turkish Airlines Announces New Routes: Minneapolis and Auckland Added to the Network

Turkish Airlines (THY), in line with its goal of expanding its global flight network, has announced plans to launch services to Minneapolis (MSP) in the United States and Auckland (AKL) in New Zealand within 2025. The announcement was made by THY Chairman Ahmet Bolat during the Turkish Airlines Management Summit 2025 held in Antalya.

With these new routes, Turkish Airlines aims to enhance its strength in the aviation sector and expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The Auckland route, in particular, will be one of the world’s longest flights, with a connection via Singapore (SIN).

Goal in the US: 20 Cities

Currently, THY operates flights to 14 cities in the United States, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, New York (JFK), San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington D.C. With the new Minneapolis route, this number will increase. THY is taking strategic steps to achieve its target of serving 20 cities in the US.

An interesting detail is that no US-based airline currently offers direct flights to Istanbul Airport (IST). This has further strengthened THY’s presence on its US routes.

Auckland Route: A New Record

THY’s flights to New Zealand are seen as one of the most significant steps in its expansion within the Asia-Pacific region. While aiming to increase its influence in this area with Auckland flights, the airline also plans ultra-long-haul routes to Santiago (SCL) in Chile, as well as Melbourne (MEL) and Sydney (SYD) in Australia.

With these new routes, Turkish Airlines’ global reach will continue to grow, and the airline will keep pursuing its goal of establishing new connections across different continents.
