Turkish Airlines (THY) announced in a statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that, in line with its growth strategy, it has signed a major agreement with Boeing for next-generation passenger aircraft.
According to the announcement, a total of 75 B787-9 and B787-10 aircraft have been ordered for delivery between 2029 and 2034. Of these, 50 are firm orders and 25 are optional. Negotiations with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace for the aircraft engines and maintenance services are ongoing.
Talks Completed for 150 Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft
THY also reported that it has completed negotiations with Boeing for a total of 150 737-8/10 MAX aircraft, consisting of 100 firm and 50 optional orders. The finalisation of the order is expected following the successful conclusion of negotiations with engine manufacturer CFM International.
Target for 2035: An Entirely Next-Generation Fleet
With these orders, Turkish Airlines plans to transition its entire fleet to next-generation aircraft by 2035. This will enhance operational efficiency and support an average annual growth rate of around 6%.
