Istanbul Airport Reaches the Top of Europe: Leads with 1,553 Daily Flights

Istanbul Airport became Europe's busiest airport during the week of 23–29 June with 1,553 daily flights. According to EUROCONTROL data, Turkey continues to lead in aviation.

According to the latest report published by the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), Istanbul Airport became Europe’s busiest airport during the week of 23–29 June, with an average of 1,553 daily flights.

In EUROCONTROL’s weekly European Aviation Report, Istanbul Airport ranked first, surpassing other major global hubs such as Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, and Amsterdam Schiphol.

The ranking continued as follows:

  • Paris Charles de Gaulle (1,404 flights)

  • Frankfurt Airport (1,383 flights)

  • London Heathrow (1,334 flights)

  • Amsterdam Schiphol (1,311 flights)

This success of Istanbul Airport once again highlights Turkey’s global competitiveness in the aviation sector. Thanks to investments by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Turkish Airlines’ extensive flight network, Istanbul has become one of the world’s most important transfer hubs.
