Turkish Airlines (THY) and its subsidiary AJet aim to transport a total of 2.1 million passengers to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) by the end of 2025. Establishing a strong air bridge between Turkey and the TRNC, the companies provide access to the island with 152 weekly flights.
Last year, 774,000 passengers flew to the TRNC with THY, while 1 million passengers used AJet flights. Thus, the two companies served a total of 1,774,000 passengers. In the first nine months of 2025, THY transported 467,000 passengers, and AJet carried 972,000 passengers to Ercan Airport.
Passenger traffic increased by 22.5% in 2025 compared to the first two months of last year. THY officials stated that the growth was influenced by TRNC’s promotional activities and tourism projects. Supporting the “Discover Cyprus” promotion project, THY offers discounted flights from many locations and provides advantageous ticket opportunities within cultural tour packages.
THY operates flights from Istanbul and Antalya airports, while AJet flies from Sabiha Gökçen, Ankara Esenboğa, and Mersin Çukurova to Ercan Airport. Last year’s “TRNC Cultural Tour” project, which welcomed 4,000 passengers, has been expanded this year with a target of 10,000 passengers.
