Turkish Airlines (THY) Chairman of the Board, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, announced that they aim to increase the tourism potential of Gaziantep and its surroundings and attract 1 million tourists to the region. Bolat stated that they plan to highlight Gaziantep’s cultural and historical riches and introduce this potential to the world.
“Gaziantep’s Tourism Potential is Expanding”
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat met with journalists at the “Gaziantep Promotion Program” held at the Zeugma Mosaic Museum Conference Hall. Bolat pointed out that the historical and cultural wealth of the city will serve as an attraction for tourists visiting the region and noted that they would especially draw the attention of tourists interested in gastronomy and culture. “Gaziantep and its surroundings have the potential to attract tourists spending 2-3 thousand dollars. Our goal is to attract 1 million tourists and achieve this target in a short time,” he said.
“The Cultural Heritage of Mesopotamia Will Be Promoted to the World”
Bolat emphasized that the Mesopotamia region is the birthplace of human history. “We continue our efforts to introduce the historical heritage and cultural riches of this region, especially Urfa, to the world,” he said. He provided examples of the Neolithic period dating back 12,000 years and 17 cultural assets in the region, stating, “Here, history is not just a past; it carries value for the present and the future.”
“Gaziantep Will Become One of the Centers of Cultural Tourism”
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat stated that special tours and promotional activities for Gaziantep would increase. He said that with the city’s rich cultural assets, special tours would be organized for tourists from Asia, America, and Europe, and these tours would bring significant economic contributions to the region. Bolat mentioned, “With investments and promotional activities in Gaziantep, we aim to make the city one of the centers of cultural tourism.”
“Turkish Airlines Supports Gaziantep”
Bolat explained that Turkish Airlines is focusing on regional targets to attract more tourists to Gaziantep. “Gaziantep is a city that stands out with its historical and cultural values. As Turkish Airlines, we attach great importance to such regional tourism activities. We have organized 19 promotional tours for Gaziantep, and we will increase this number to 23 by 2026,” he said. He also mentioned that work has begun on a new promotional film for Gaziantep.
“THY’s Growth Vision and Contributions to Turkey”
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat also touched on Turkish Airlines’ growth vision, stating that the company has achieved a 12% annual growth over the past 20 years and aims to increase its fleet to 813 aircraft by 2033. Bolat added, “Turkish Airlines has been Turkey’s largest exporter for the last 16 years, contributing $60 billion annually to the national economy.”
“A Strong Collaboration for Gaziantep”
Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber and Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin expressed that they will continue to collaborate with THY on projects aimed at increasing Gaziantep’s tourism potential. Governor Çeber said, “We need THY’s support to promote Gaziantep’s potential to a wider audience.” Mayor Şahin stated, “By promoting our cultural heritage, we will turn Gaziantep into a global tourism hub.”
