The President of the Defence Industries, Haluk Görgün, paid a visit to Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ) to review the latest developments in the GÖKTÜRK-Y project, set to become Turkey’s new eye in space. Following his visit, Görgün made significant announcements on his social media account.

“Full Support for National Space Initiatives through the Strength of Our Defence Industry”
President Görgün highlighted the GÖKTÜRK-Y project as a milestone in Turkey’s national space programme. He stated:
“We continue to provide the highest support for Turkey’s national space efforts with the engineering power of our defence industry.”
After inspections at TUSAŞ facilities, Görgün added:
“Through the GÖKTÜRK Renewal Reconnaissance and Surveillance Satellite System Development (GÖKTÜRK-Y) Project, the advanced high-resolution imaging capability we will gain will ensure uninterrupted service even after the GÖKTÜRK-1 satellite completes its operational lifespan.”

Satellites and Systems Developed with National Resources
The GÖKTÜRK-Y project is not merely a satellite development initiative but encompasses an extensive technological ecosystem. The project includes:
- Satellite subsystems: Fully designed with national capabilities, including a state-of-the-art high-resolution electro-optical camera.
- Ground stations: Both fixed and mobile ground stations will be established.
- Launch and pre-orbit operations: Comprehensive preparations and required services will be provided with top-level logistical support.

President Görgün also celebrated the success of the engineers involved in the project, remarking:
“I congratulate all our engineers who have successfully contributed to this significant project, which will become our new eye in space.”
GÖKTÜRK-Y: Turkey’s New Eye in Space
The GÖKTÜRK-Y project is poised to significantly enhance Turkey’s reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities in space. With the advanced systems being developed, Turkey will achieve high-resolution imaging capabilities for both defence and civilian purposes.
