Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced the deployment of Turkey’s first domestically developed air traffic display software, Interactive Radar Analysis and Data Display (İRADE), at Istanbul Atatürk and Çukurova Airports. The software was entirely developed by Turkish engineers.
Ending Screen Clutter, Enhancing Safety
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that İRADE consolidates critical information from multiple sources into a single display for air traffic controllers, reducing screen clutter and enhancing air traffic safety. “This software, developed as part of our efforts to increase domestic and national capabilities in aviation, is a major milestone in reducing dependence on foreign technologies and transitioning to local solutions,” he stated.
A Critical Tool for Turkish Airspace
Highlighting that İRADE complies with international standards and is a 100% Turkish-engineered product, Uraloğlu said, “This software, developed with the expertise of DHMİ (General Directorate of State Airports Authority) personnel, will become indispensable for Turkish airspace, which handles 5,000 aircraft daily.”
Technological Highlights
Minister Uraloğlu detailed the features of İRADE:
- Real-time radar data
- Automatic Weather Observation System (AWOS) integration
- NOTAM and AFTN data integration
- Meteorological radar and satellite data
These features enable İRADE to provide air traffic controllers with all necessary information on a single screen, offering high efficiency and flexibility in system operations.
A New Era in Aviation
Following the development of the indigenous Digital-Airport Terminal Information System (D-ATIS), İRADE marks another significant achievement in Turkey’s aviation industry. Uraloğlu added, “With full integration into our ever-growing aviation sector, we will further strengthen our nation’s capabilities in this field.”
