KAAN, the National Combat Aircraft, one of the prestige projects of the Turkish defense industry, will enter serial production and be offered for sale to friendly and allied countries in 2028. Initially, KAAN will be added to the inventory of the Turkish Air Force Command, and it has been learned that representatives from six countries have already been in contact with Turkish officials regarding the aircraft.
According to the information obtained, the countries interested in KAAN include Egypt, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The goal is to procure a total of 250 KAAN fighter jets between 2028 and 2040. Deliveries are planned to reach two aircraft per month by 2029.
The project timeline has also started to take shape. The second prototype is expected to take to the skies in 2025, while the third aircraft is anticipated to do so in 2026.
Developed by TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace Industries), KAAN will be Turkey’s first fifth-generation fighter aircraft. Notable for its twin-engine design, low radar visibility, advanced sensor fusion, and superior capabilities in air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, KAAN is equipped with F110-type engines.
