Turkey Sends an 8-Person Expert Team to Support Azerbaijan

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced that an expert team from Turkey would be sent to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) passenger plane in Kazakhstan.

Azerbaijan Plane Crashes in Kazakhstan: 38 People Lose Their Lives

On December 25, an AZAL passenger plane traveling from Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, to Grozny, Russia, tragically crashed in the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan. The crash resulted in the loss of all 38 people on board. Azerbaijani government officials suggested in their initial assessments that the plane might have been shot down by Russia.

Turkey Dispatches Investigation Team

In a statement shared on social media, Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced the deployment of an 8-person investigation team to examine the causes of the crash in detail. Minister Uraloğlu said:

“Following the tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) passenger plane in Aktau, Kazakhstan, and at the request of the Azerbaijani State Civil Aviation Agency, we have formed an expert team to investigate the causes of the crash, conduct technical and operational analyses, and provide the necessary support. Our team will depart for Baku this evening.”

Full Coordination with Azerbaijan to Be Ensured

Minister Uraloğlu stated that starting tomorrow, the team would work in coordination with Azerbaijani authorities to examine all aspects of the incident. He also expressed his condolences for the lives lost, adding:

“As Turkey, we once again express our unwavering solidarity with Azerbaijan under all circumstances. We offer our deepest condolences to the Azerbaijani brothers and sisters and pray for the mercy of Allah for those who lost their lives in the accident.”
