President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had announced during the opening of Çukurova International Airport and at the TEKNOFEST event in Adana that Adana Şakirpaşa Airport would not be closed and would continue to serve as a training centre for the region. In line with this vision, Turkish Airlines Flight Training Academy (TAFA) has launched its fifth training centre at Adana Şakirpaşa Airport, following Aydın, Uşak, Selçuk, and Bodrum-Milas, and has begun flight training activities.
Adana Becomes an Important Hub for Aviation Training
With this new centre, four aircraft from the 49-plane TAFA fleet have been assigned to Adana, and depending on the airport’s facilities, the aim is to increase this number to 18.
As of December 2024:
- Over 900 pilots have graduated.
- 220,000 flight training hours have been completed.
Targets for 2027:
- By the end of 2024, an additional 48 aircraft will be added to the fleet.
- The fleet will reach 107 aircraft by the first quarter of 2027.
