The General Command of the Gendarmerie has taken a significant step toward addressing its military transport needs with the procurement of the Airbus C295 Military Transport Aircraft.
Airbus officials held a special promotional event at the Gendarmerie Aviation Department, showcasing the advanced capabilities of the C295 model.
The Liaison and General Purpose Aircraft Project, initiated for Turkey’s security forces, aims to supply modern, versatile military transport aircraft. As part of the project, Europe-based aerospace giant Airbus presented the technical features and operational advantages of the C295 Military Transport Aircraft.
According to information provided by Airbus, the C295:
- Stands out with its multi-role capabilities,
- Features the latest avionics systems,
- Offers cost-effective operation and low maintenance requirements,
- Excels with robust security systems and high operational availability.
C295: A Globally Preferred Aircraft
In the military transport segment, the C295 holds a market-leading position. To date, contracts for a total of 301 aircraft have been signed with 41 users in 37 countries. Its spacious cargo capacity and operational versatility are key factors behind this success.
Outstanding Technical Features
- Cargo Cabin: Measuring 12.69 meters in length, it can accommodate 70 personnel, 49 paratroopers, or 24 stretchers.
- Mission Capabilities: Supports VIP transportation, personnel movement, container drops, and light maintenance missions.
- Flexibility: Can be quickly reconfigured for different missions as needed.
Additionally, the C295 is equipped with advanced tools for ease of use by pilots and self-protection systems that enhance safety standards.
Superior Performance Under Challenging Conditions
The C295 stands out with its ability to take off and land on short and unpaved runways. It successfully handles demanding operations, including maritime surveillance, patrol missions, signal intelligence, aerial refueling, firefighting, and special operations.
Compatible with Turkish Defense Industry
The Airbus C295 integrates seamlessly with Turkey’s indigenous defense products, such as CİRİT, L-UMTAS, and TEBER missiles and guidance kits. Furthermore, its endurance of over 11 hours in the air provides a significant advantage for long-duration missions.
