The Bayraktar TB2, developed by Baykar and increasingly prominent in the global defense industry in recent years, has been supplied to 34 different countries, establishing a wide international user base. The total supply of Bayraktar TB2s has reached 600 units, while Baykar has also secured agreements with 10 countries for its AKINCI UAV.
The Bayraktar TB2 has garnered significant demand internationally due to its performance in conflict zones like Syria, Libya, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine, as well as in various other regions. Its low fuel consumption and endurance stand out, operating with a diesel engine that consumes only 10 liters of fuel per hour. Baykar is continuing its efforts to increase production capacity and has ramped up investments to ensure the sustainability of this success.
The First Bayraktar TB2 Retired After 10,000 Flight Hours
One of the oldest members of the Bayraktar TB2 fleet, the UAV with tail number S5, entered service in 2014 and successfully completed its mission after accumulating 10,000 flight hours. After serving with the Turkish Armed Forces, this UAV will be repurposed by Baykar as a research aircraft for airframe lifespan studies, to be used in training and test flights.
Bayraktar TB2 Sets Record with 900,000 Flight Hours
Since entering service in 2014, Bayraktar TB2 UAVs have collectively flown over 900,000 hours, making it the longest-flying indigenous aircraft in Turkish aviation history. Produced with 93% domestically sourced components, the Bayraktar TB2 is actively used not only in Turkey but also in many other countries for both military and civilian missions.
In addition to its use by critical institutions such as the Turkish Armed Forces, the General Directorate of Security, the Gendarmerie General Command, and the National Intelligence Organization, the Bayraktar TB2 is also deployed in civilian applications like fighting forest fires.
Baykar anticipates that demand for this critical technology will continue to rise in the coming years, expecting to supply even more countries and further strengthen Turkey’s role in the defense industry.
