As Turkey’s gateway to the world, İGA Istanbul Airport is once again commemorating July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day with meaningful events this year. The special photo exhibition, prepared in cooperation with the July 15 Association, showcases the Turkish nation’s determination to uphold democracy and independence.
The exhibition, which can be visited between July 11-18, presents striking images that shed light on Turkey’s recent history to both domestic and international guests at İGA Istanbul Airport.

Images Dedicated to Democracy: Moving Moments for Visitors
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by Istanbul Airport Civil Administrative Chief Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker Haktankaçmaz, İGA Istanbul Airport CEO Selahattin Bilgen, July 15 Association President İsmail Hakkı Turunç, and numerous guests.
Speaking at the opening, İGA CEO Selahattin Bilgen highlighted the importance of the event with the following words:
“Today, we are not only presenting an exhibition but also building a visual memory that symbolizes our nation’s determination and commitment to independence. On the night of July 15, Turkey once again demonstrated its faith in democracy to the whole world. We position this exhibition as a bridge from the past to the future.”

“This Heroic Story is Entrusted to Future Generations”
July 15 Association President İsmail Hakkı Turunç also emphasized the importance of the events held on the 9th anniversary of July 15:
“It is our duty to keep alive the epic written by our 253 martyrs and nearly 2,700 veterans. The exhibition we realized together with İGA offers a powerful narrative of our nation’s resistance and revival.”

From Visual Monuments to Digital Content: The Entire Airport Embodies July 15
İGA Istanbul Airport’s activities were not limited to the exhibition. The Air Traffic Control Tower was illuminated in red and white, the colours of the Turkish flag. Across the terminal, special digital content prepared by the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency is being broadcast on screens.
