The First Phase of a €35 Million Investment at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport: New Parking Lot Opened

Sabiha Gökçen International Airport has opened a new parking area with a capacity of 708 vehicles, developed as part of terminal improvement projects to meet increasing passenger demand and enhance guest comfort, just before the midterm holiday.

Comfortable Solution with Increased Parking Capacity

According to a statement from the airport operator, Malaysia Airports Holdings, the parking expansion work is being carried out without affecting the current passenger traffic. The new parking lot is designed to alleviate parking shortages, particularly during peak seasons.

The 708-vehicle open parking area has been put into service after the completion of lighting and landscaping arrangements. This investment marks the first improvement project implemented at Sabiha Gökçen Airport in 2025.

Parking Capacity Increased to 6,150

As part of the parking expansion work, which involved an investment of approximately €7 million, an additional parking area with a capacity of 640 vehicles was added in April 2024 in front of the old terminal (T1) building. With the completion of the new parking project just before the midterm holiday, the airport’s total parking capacity has reached 6,150 vehicles.

Extensive €35 Million Investment Continues

At Sabiha Gökçen, Turkey’s second-largest airport, work continues on 24 projects aimed at enhancing terminal facilities, with a total investment budget of €35 million.

The “Passenger Flow Improvement Project,” largely completed in 2024, focuses on the most heavily used areas to ensure passengers have a more comfortable travel experience. This project is expected to be fully completed in the first half of 2025.
