Mehmet Demiroğlu, General Manager of Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ), announced that the first delivery of the HÜRJET jet trainer and light attack aircraft to the Turkish Air Force Command is scheduled for early 2027. He also stated that the initial delivery to Spain is targeted for 2028.
International Step for HÜRJET: Strategic Partnership with Spain
HÜRJET, developed by TUSAŞ, has drawn interest not only from Turkey but also from international users. Demiroğlu emphasised that the recent partnership with Spanish companies led by Airbus highlights HÜRJET’s global potential. He noted that Spain has chosen HÜRJET to meet its own trainer aircraft needs, saying, “We hope the door opened by Spain will lead us to NATO.”
Demiroğlu added that TUSAŞ is working to develop a NATO-standard trainer aircraft, stating, “We aim to make this platform NATO’s joint training aircraft.”
More Than 100 Contracts Targeted for HÜRJET
The TUSAŞ General Manager noted that they have received an order for 16 HÜRJET aircraft from the Turkish Air Force. He said their goal is to sign contracts for over 100 HÜRJET aircraft with both Turkey and Spain by the end of 2024.
Demiroğlu commented, “In the projects we are carrying out under the coordination of our Defence Industry Agency (SSB), we continue to determine the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and shape the production infrastructure with domestic companies.”
55 Orders Reached for HÜRKUŞ
Demiroğlu also shared updates on another key TUSAŞ platform, the HÜRKUŞ trainer aircraft. He stated that 15 units have been produced so far, with five currently in active use. Seven of the remaining aircraft are planned to be delivered to countries that have placed orders later this year.
He added that a total of 55 orders have been received for HÜRKUŞ and said, “We will deliver 10 more of these orders within this year.”
