Avalon Airport in Victoria was placed in lockdown after a teenager was arrested for allegedly boarding a Jetstar flight to Sydney with a shotgun. Footage obtained by 9News shows the incident unfolding on the tarmac in Geelong, with the teenager being restrained by a passenger and the pilot. Police were called to the scene at approximately 2:50 pm.
Teen Restrained by Passenger
The 17-year-old, wearing a high-visibility uniform, was handcuffed by a passenger. Other passengers reportedly removed several items from the teenager’s utility belt, and the stock of a shotgun was visible at his feet. After the arrest, footage captured a flight attendant removing the shotgun stock from the aircraft.
Security Breach Allegations
It is alleged that the teenager bypassed security and accessed the plane via the tarmac, claiming he required maintenance assistance. The alarming incident occurred on Jetstar flight JQ 610, which had around 160 passengers on board.
