Cork Airport has announced that it will introduce direct flights to Izmir, Turkey, twice a week. This new service is being launched in response to increasing demand for direct flights to Turkey, offering more travel options for passengers in Southern Ireland.
New Route Operated by SunExpress
The new flights will be operated by SunExpress, a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines. As part of the 2025 Summer Schedule, flights to Izmir will run twice a week, starting on May 31st and continuing until October.
Cultural Highlights
Izmir offers not only an airport connection but also rich cultural and historical attractions. The ancient city of Ephesus and the nearby House of the Virgin Mary are among the region’s most prominent cultural sites, providing visitors with a history-filled experience.
Wine and Culinary Experience
The area is also known for its numerous wineries and was recently added to the MICHELIN Guide’s map for Turkey. This highlights Izmir as a destination rich in both cultural and culinary offerings.
