SunExpress and Eintracht Frankfurt have jointly and proudly decided to conclude their successful partnership, which began in 2017 and will continue until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Over the course of this seven-year collaboration, the two brands shared many unforgettable moments—both on the field and in the sky. The partnership accompanied Eintracht Frankfurt’s appearances in the DFB Cup finals in 2017, 2018, and 2023. One of the most iconic memories remains the moment when the pilot waved the trophy from the cockpit of the return flight from Berlin in 2018, following the team’s triumphant cup win—a moment etched in the hearts of fans and the wider football world.

Wings of the Eagles Across Europe
SunExpress also played a vital role in Eintracht Frankfurt’s historic European journey. Following the club’s 2022 UEFA Europa League victory, a specially branded SunExpress aircraft flew the team and the trophy back from Seville to Frankfurt. Away matches in cities like Rome, Milan, and London were made memorable for players and fans alike thanks to the chartered flights.
Flying Designs That Captured Fans’ Hearts
As part of the partnership, two specially designed Eintracht Frankfurt-themed aircraft were introduced and quickly became fan favourites. Created with input from supporters, the aircraft inspired not just football enthusiasts but also more than 1.2 million passengers. Together, they operated nearly 8,000 flights, symbolising the powerful synergy between the two brands.

Messages of Farewell
Axel Hellmann, CEO of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, expressed his farewell with the following words:
“This partnership has given us emotional and unforgettable memories—especially the 2018 DFB Cup final when we returned to Frankfurt as champions. From European campaigns to uniquely designed aircraft, SunExpress consistently raised the bar. We sincerely thank them for their trusted, professional, and friendly cooperation.”
SunExpress CEO Max Kownatzki also shared his sentiments:
