Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines, shared the unknown aspects of her life and the secrets behind her career success in an interview with Capital magazine.
Started with Turkish Airlines, Became CEO at Pegasus
Güliz Öztürk’s career journey began with Turkish Airlines (THY). During her 13 years at THY, she held significant roles such as Director of International Relations and Agreements, Vice President of Marketing, and Sales and Marketing Director. Afterward, she worked at the Ciner Group. Öztürk joined Pegasus Airlines, where she served as the Director of Scheduled Flights, Sales Director, Vice President of the Commercial Unit, and ultimately, CEO.
Pursued Education and Her Dream
Öztürk began her education at Kadıköy Anatolian High School and Maarif College, and completed her studies at Boğaziçi University in the Department of Psychology. She shared that she started working as a contracted cabin crew member at Turkish Airlines during her university years, marking her first step into the aviation industry.
Öztürk said, “I dreamed of going to Boğaziçi University, and I succeeded. Immediately after finishing university, I started working in the International Relations and Agreements Department at THY,” sharing her success story.
An Inclusive and Sharing Leader
Speaking about her work philosophy, Güliz Öztürk stated, “I am an inclusive and sharing leader,” emphasizing open communication and fair management. She added, “I give my team members responsibility and freedom. I encourage diversity and inclusiveness.”

Öztürk expressed that her life motto is “You reap what you sow,” stating that she continues to work towards making Pegasus a global player.
She said, “I want to continue our claim of being one of the world’s most efficient and profitable airlines.”

Güliz Öztürk emphasized that being the first female CEO in Turkish civil aviation history is the most significant achievement in her career. She stated, “Taking on the leadership of a company with bold ambitions in the global aviation industry,” pointing out that Pegasus is making determined steps to solidify its position on the international stage.
Gender Equality and Future Goals
Öztürk shared that she built her career goals on ethical leadership, vision, and gender equality. She has been actively volunteering on gender equality since 2019 and mentioned that she wants to dedicate more time in the future to continue her impactful work in this area.

Güliz Öztürk listed the secrets of her success as working hard, not giving up, and time management. She also emphasized the importance of believing in the power of her team and mentioned that she draws great motivation from her colleagues.
Öztürk also values sports and healthy living habits. She maintains her fitness by doing pilates and weight training at least three times a week, and walking or running for two to three days. She also mentioned participating in triathlons with her friends.
