Southwest Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Flames

A Southwest Airlines passenger plane made an emergency landing at Houston’s Hobby Airport on Thursday after a fire broke out in the engine while en route to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. All 134 passengers on board were evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

According to a statement from the Houston Fire Department, the fire occurred at around 11:15 a.m., and the aircraft returned safely to the airport. Fire crews responded not only to the engine fire but also to a small grass fire near the runway following the landing.

In a statement, Southwest Airlines emphasised that no one was injured in the incident. The flight crew played a crucial role in ensuring all passengers were evacuated swiftly and safely.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing and confirmed that the evacuation took place on the taxiway at the airport.

Southwest Airlines also announced that arrangements had been made to ensure all affected passengers would reach their final destination in Cabo San Lucas. The airline said, “We appreciate our flight crew’s professional response. At Southwest, the safety of our passengers and employees is always our top priority.”
