In the state of Georgia, USA, passengers were evacuated through the emergency exit after smoke formed in the cabin of a Delta Air Lines aircraft.

Plane Made an Emergency Return

According to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a Delta Air Lines Boeing 717 passenger plane was forced to return shortly after takeoff from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport due to the presence of “haze or smoke” in the cabin.

94 Passengers on Board

Statements from Delta Air Lines and the FAA revealed that the flight, bound for South Carolina, carried 94 passengers, 2 pilots, and 3 flight attendants. The plane made a safe landing in Atlanta following the incident.

Footage shared by some passengers on social media showed travelers covering their heads and faces with their clothes due to the smoke in the cabin. After landing, passengers were evacuated using emergency slides.

FAA Launches Investigation

Delta officials apologized to passengers for the disruption, while FAA authorities announced that they had launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. Officials emphasized that the incident is being thoroughly examined and that flight safety remains the highest priority.
