United Airlines flight UA3439, en route to Detroit (DTW), returned to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) shortly after takeoff when smoke was detected in the cabin.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the flight departed Newark at 4:30 PM and landed safely around 5:00 PM.

Safe Passenger Evacuation

The crew deployed emergency evacuation slides, ensuring all passengers exited the aircraft safely. Evacuated passengers were transported to the terminal via buses. Authorities confirmed that no injuries occurred during the incident.

Newark Airport temporarily suspended flight operations during the emergency. Airspace reopened for regular operations at 5:55 PM.
