‘Sky Explorers’ Project Launches in Collaboration Between SunExpress and Community Volunteers Foundation

SunExpress, a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, is launching the ‘Sky Explorers’ project in collaboration with the Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG) to introduce children affected by the earthquake to the world of aviation. This initiative aims to inspire their imaginations, expand their horizons, and foster new dreams by providing engaging and educational aviation experiences.

The project is designed to help children explore the fascinating realm of aviation while developing diverse skills and aspirations. With the guidance of dedicated SunExpress volunteers, children will participate in workshops held at TOG Support Centers. These sessions will provide a fun and interactive way to learn about aircraft structure, cabin and cockpit operations, ground processes, and sustainability in aviation. Through a program enriched with interactive games, participants will embark on an inspiring journey that combines educational activities with joy and curiosity, enabling them to explore both the skies and the critical processes on the ground.

SunExpress CEO Max Kownatzki Comments

“We believe that aviation is not just a profession but also an exciting journey fueled by the passion for exploration and learning. With the ‘Sky Explorers’ project, we aim to spark inspiration in children and reinforce their hopes for the future. It is a great joy for us to touch their lives and help them build new dreams,” said SunExpress CEO Max Kownatzki.

Community Volunteers Foundation’s Vision

TOG General Manager Ayşe Kırımlı highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in their work:
“Since 2002, we have been empowering young people and working with them to create social benefits. With the Support Centers initiative, launched in five cities after the disaster, we aim to contribute to the recovery process by supporting not only young people but also children and adults. Our Support Centers are open to the voluntary experiences of every organization and individual because we believe everyone can turn their expertise into social value and make a difference. The ‘Sky Explorers’ project, developed with SunExpress, is a wonderful example of this vision. Through this initiative, we aim to engage children at our Support Centers in various cities and provide them with an interactive experience in aviation. We sincerely thank SunExpress for this meaningful collaboration.”

Aiming to Inspire Future Aviation Enthusiasts

The ‘Sky Explorers’ project seeks to open the doors of the aviation world to children affected by the earthquake, offering inspiration to those who dream of pursuing a career in this field. The first phase of the program will begin in December in Adıyaman, followed by sessions at the Support Centers in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, and İskenderun.

By giving children in affected areas an opportunity to explore aviation up close, this initiative aspires to help them recover, dream bigger, and perhaps one day carve out careers in aviation.
