33-year-old Ohio pilot Jeremy Gudorf was removed from his plane and arrested on Thursday due to a second-degree charge related to child abuse issued in North Carolina. The flight was set to depart for Paris.
Arrested at Boston Logan Airport
Authorities reported that shortly before the JetBlue aircraft was due to depart Boston Logan International Airport for Paris, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, during a routine passenger list check, discovered that Gudorf had an active arrest warrant.
Massachusetts State Police announced that Gudorf was taken off the plane and arrested at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Thursday evening.
Brought to Court, Released on $10,000 Bail
Gudorf appeared in Boston Municipal Court on Friday, facing charges of fleeing justice. According to The Boston Globe, Gudorf pleaded not guilty and was released on $10,000 bail. The court ruled that the pilot must surrender to North Carolina authorities by Tuesday and return to Massachusetts for a hearing on 19 March.
Officials did not disclose details regarding the child sexual abuse allegations.
JetBlue Places Pilot on Indefinite Leave
In a statement, JetBlue Airways said: “We are closely reviewing the circumstances surrounding the arrest of our pilot at Logan Airport on Thursday evening. While authorities conduct their investigation, the pilot has been placed on indefinite leave.”
