Lockheed Martin, the supplier of the F-35 fighter jet to the US military, has agreed to pay a settlement of approximately $30 million over allegations of overcharging the Pentagon. The US Department of Justice stated that the company had inflated its costs in pricing between 2013 and 2015.
According to court documents, Lockheed Martin made misleading statements to the Pentagon during negotiations for the production and maintenance of F-35 fighter jets. As part of the allegations brought under the “False Claims Act”, the company has agreed to settle by paying around $30 million.
The Department of Justice described the settlement as “a victory for American taxpayers”, emphasising the importance of the transparent and accurate use of public funds.
Lockheed Martin has not issued an official statement regarding the matter.
