Oman’s first low-cost airline, SalamAir, plans to expand its fleet by adding 10 new Airbus A320s over the next three years to meet growing passenger demand. The airline has submitted official requests to various aircraft leasing companies to acquire these planes.
With this expansion, SalamAir’s fleet is expected to reach 25 aircraft by 2028. Currently operating with 13 aircraft, the fleet will grow to 15 in 2025 with the addition of two new A321s. The airline is undertaking this growth initiative to boost Oman’s tourism sector and expand its network with new destinations.
CEO: “Our Flights Are Full, Demand Exceeds Expectations”
SalamAir CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns highlighted the success of the low-cost airline model, stating:
“Our flights are full, and demand is surpassing our expectations. Our five-year expansion plans will allow us to increase domestic and regional services while also launching flights to underserved destinations. These steps will support Oman’s tourism industry and drive rapid growth in the sector.”
Hamilton-Manns also emphasised the rising demand for budget-friendly travel, saying:
“Our plan to add 10 new aircraft over the next three years is a direct response to this demand. The low-cost travel model is highly popular, and we are seeing other airlines entering this market. This competition will help lower ticket prices, offering significant benefits to passengers.”
