SAHA Istanbul, Turkey and Europe’s largest industrial cluster, continues to support domestic production in the defense and aerospace sectors. The SAHA EXPO 2024 International Defense, Aerospace, and Space Industry Fair will take place at the Istanbul Expo Center from October 22-26, 2024. This event serves as a key platform for local and international companies in the defense sector, fostering new partnerships and agreements.
A Growing Expo with the Theme “Master Technology, Shape the Future”
Haluk Bayraktar, Chairman of SAHA Istanbul’s Board, stated that the expo has grown by 50% this year, covering a 90,000 square meter area, and will host over 1,200 companies, along with numerous official and commercial delegations. Bayraktar remarked, “At SAHA EXPO this year, we expect the formation of new collaborations and agreements that will drive our defense industry exports forward.”
Vision of Nationalization and Independence in Defense Industry
Bayraktar emphasized that Turkey has significantly reduced its foreign dependency in the defense sector over the past 20 years and has now become a country that produces high technology. Many high-tech products, from unmanned aerial and naval vehicles to warships, are now offered to global markets.
Ambitious Defense Export Targets
In 2023, defense industry exports reached $5.5 billion, and Bayraktar announced a goal to surpass $6 billion in 2024. He highlighted the strategic importance of new technologies to increase Turkey’s competitiveness on the international stage.
SAHA Match for Smart Collaborations
To facilitate connections among participants, the AI-powered platform SAHA Match will be used. This platform will help attendees easily find suitable manufacturers or potential clients, maximizing collaboration opportunities.
More Visitors and Increased Interaction
The expo has been extended from four days to five, with public days also increasing to two. SAHA EXPO 2024 is expected to attract over 150,000 visitors. Bayraktar noted that this major event will be a crucial platform for showcasing domestic and national technologies, giving visitors a closer look at defense industry products.
