Safran Aircraft Engines, a leading global aircraft engine manufacturer, has strengthened its presence in Mexico by expanding its Querétaro facility with the opening of a new assembly line. This strategic move underscores Safran’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the aerospace industry.
Grand Opening Ceremony
The inauguration ceremony of the new assembly line was attended by key figures, including Safran México President Alejandro Cardona Seemann, General Manager of the facility Marcial Suárez, and Mexico’s Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard. Also present were French Ambassador to Mexico Delphine Borione and Safran Deputy CEO Philippe Errera. The presence of major leaders from Mexico’s aerospace sector further solidified Safran’s role in the region.
Importance of Safran’s Investment in Mexico
During his speech at the event, Philippe Errera highlighted Querétaro’s critical role in Safran’s innovation and manufacturing operations. He emphasized that the facility reflects the company’s mission to explore local talent and advance aerospace technology. Minister Marcelo Ebrard noted that Safran’s support for projects like this strengthens Mexico’s position in the global aerospace sector.
Features of the New Facility
The new Safran facility in Querétaro spans 4,300 square meters of operational space and includes an 8,500 square meter logistics warehouse, creating 150 new jobs. The facility will be responsible for the final assembly of CFM LEAP engine fans and turbines. With this addition, Querétaro becomes the first commercial engine final assembly site in Mexico for single-aisle aircraft.
Mexico’s Rise in Global Aerospace
Safran Aircraft Engines CEO Jean-Paul Alary remarked that Mexico has become one of the few countries capable of supporting the entire lifecycle of aircraft engines. Safran has been operating in Mexico for over 34 years, employing more than 14,000 people across 18 facilities, making Mexico a critical hub for Safran.
Expansion and Employment
The new assembly line in Querétaro is part of a region where Safran Landing Systems operates, with over 3,500 employees working in the area. Mexico is Safran’s largest employer in the aerospace and aviation industry.
