Sabiha Gökçen Continues to Grow: 141 Destinations, 51 Countries

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG) set a new record for international passenger traffic on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Fueled by the Christmas and New Year holiday season, the airport welcomed a total of 77,652 international passengers in December alone.

Istanbul Remains the Heart of Tourism

After breaking its all-time passenger traffic record with 37.1 million passengers in 2023, Sabiha Gökçen is continuing its rapid growth trajectory in 2024. As Istanbul maintains its status as a global tourism hub, known for its rich history, cultural heritage, and unique landscapes, Sabiha Gökçen plays a pivotal role in facilitating this success.

On December 29, 2024, the airport processed 37,910 arriving and 39,742 departing international passengers, totaling 77,652 passengers in one day. That same day, 424 international flights were operated. This milestone surpassed the previous record of 72,587 passengers set on November 17, 2024.

Expanding Network at Sabiha Gökçen

As of 2024, Sabiha Gökçen Airport has solidified its position as a vital hub connecting Turkey to the world. Offering flights to 141 destinations across 51 countries, ISG provides 103 international and 38 domestic routes. Over the year, it expanded its network by adding 15 new international and 1 new domestic destination.

Fastest-Growing Destinations

In 2024, Rotterdam (Netherlands) stood out as ISG’s fastest-growing destination with a 122% increase in passenger traffic. It was followed by Cairo (Egypt) with 100% growth and Belgrade (Serbia) with a 72% increase.
